The Village is a neighborhood in the western section of Historic Downtown Jersey City. Originally known as the “Italian Village” once considered the Little Italy of JC, this area is home to exciting new restaurants, shops, and experiences, yet also remains loyal to its old-school roots and downhome establishments.
It is bordered by Hamilton Park and Harsimus Cove to the east and the Turnpike Extension to the west, just west of the Grove St Path station. The neighborhood stays close to its history with a strong community feel, Italian bakeries and delis, local parks and a variety of retail and cuisines to explore.
There’s so much to explore and keep you entertained from shops like Casa Mona, chic home décor and floral arrangements on Newark Avenue to Darke Pines, downtown’s only butcher shop, to Carmen Rosa’s Bakery on Coles street, one of many amazing bakeries in this area.
